I've been so lazy lately but here is another update...
I visited Leon a view weekends ago, which is like Granada a colonial city. It is much more progressive with a lot of Sandistien influence that Granada which is pretty conservetive. There are tons of students and is because of that super alife. It feels more real than Granada. Granada is more beautifull but it seems like it is only made that beautifull because of the students, it is not really how the mentality of Granada is. Leon on the other hand feels more like it is thinking "I know there are a lot of tourists and I'm fine with it but I do my one thing, wether their are tourists or not!
I was there with one other voluntair and we spend one whole day walking around the city and eating cheap and great comedor food. The other day we spend at the beach and had the best hitch hike ever... We were trying to hitch a ride but it didn't work that well so we stopped a normal bus to get at the beach. The bus stopped and when we got in we were a little suprised that everybody starded to laugh and we didn't had to pay. It turned out to be a bus full of abuelas on their daytrip to the beach! It was a great ride full of jokes and compliments from the abuelas..
I'm a diehard suporter of the "Tiburones", the Granada baseballteam. They were Nicaragua's national champion last year and I go to almost all theyr homegames. It is so much fun to go to see the games beacuase the Granadinos are so pasionated by their local team! The audience is super animated, dancing in the breaks, yelling, wistling and sometimes fithing during the game. (even though they are all suporting the same team) The Mascottes/chearleaders are an old man and little boy dancing salsa, the snacks mango's with chili and lemon and the food yuca with pork.
But the best thing about about this whole game is the scoreboard. At first site it looks like a normal automatic scoreboard. But when you pay a little more attencion on it you can see that somebody is walking behind it to change the scores by hand...
I have only 2 weeks left in Granada and have mixed feelings about it. I'm defenitly looking forward to go to panama and Costa Rica but I will miss my kids at school and Granada a lot!!!
abrazito y besito!
